Why Did Tiger Woods Appear on so many TV shows as a very young child if his parents were not rich/famous?

I’m doing a biographys peech on Tiger Woods in summer school. And I have noticed that accomplishments in hsi early life include him winning gold tournaments, AND him appearing on TV shows like the Mike Douglass show at the age of two. He also appeared on other Tv shows at other ages. How did he get discovered?

He grew up in the Los Angeles area, and the TV shows he appeared on were filmed in Hollywood (LA area). His dad was really doing nothing more than pimping his kid, dog and pony show, on these early appearances. But he showed an interest in playing from a young age, and since his father retired early and Tiger was born comparatively late in Earl’s life he had the time to devote to Tiger’s chasing junior tournaments around California. Tiger didn’t really get "discovered" until he started making a name for himself by winning the USGA Junior Amateur and regular Amateur (against older competitors) in back to back years.
