Why does the US media want sports figures to be more accountable for their actions than politicians? Seems like something is screwed with that. Notice I said the US media and not Americans–the two are not the same.

A politician is capable of screwing any number of people unscathed without even dropping his or her pants. For the news media what is the larger draw a politician who works quietly in the background or a sports figure who is at the top of his game (Kobe, Vick, Tiger)? Economics.
