Well Kansas City is a Livestock Town and still to this day, "The American Royal" is the Livestock show they got their name from, I say It was very Creative of them using that name.

The name is a reference to Kansas City’s large role in the livestock and beef trade. It comes from the American Royal Livestock Show which had been held in Kansas City.

The "Royals" name originates from the American Royal, a livestock show, horse show, and rodeo held annually in Kansas City since 1899.
