Your Boston/ Cleveland Preview?

by admin on February 9, 2010

Boston did win the season series-the Indians just showed that means nothing. The games Boston and Cleveland played were very close-I see this series being one of the best pitching shootouts in recent memory. Beckett/Sabathia could go either way…I like Carmona over Dice K anyday of the week…Schilling gets a slight edge over Westbrook-maybe-Indians hitters will make Schilling work hard.Byrd vs who? Who knows about Wakefields back…bullpens are both phenomenal-Boston clearly has the better closer. But Cleveland has the edge with Perez and Betancourt…I’d be shocked to see this series not go 7 and be legendary. Any thoughts?

it’s going to come down to who scores the most runs. while i think the pitching is good on both sides, i feel both teams are still going to score an average of 4 or 5 runs a game or more. not alot of runs, but it could be more. the heavy hitters for both teams have to play big. bullpen could be a issue for boston. otherwise, a good series.

LeBron James doesn’t come within 100 miles of Jacobs Field.

Dice and Schil fell apart in the second half. I see no advantage there unless Schilling puts more catsup in his sock.

Come on now, Schilling’s just Mr. October. I’d give him and Beckett wins over Sabathia and Westbrook without debate. Matsuzaka versus Carmona is a bit shakier, considering Dice-K’s generally tired games recently. Wakefield/Byrd could be close; Wake bamboozles batters, Byrd just gets them out any way he can. The Sox have the best bullpen in the AL, and possibly in all of Major League Baseball, in my opinion. After watching today’s game, I’d say Cleveland has a bunch more hits per time through the order, but they aren’t big bangs, not like Manny and Ortiz have been hitting lately.

Basically, I think it could go either way, though I’d be inclined to lean toward the Red Sox just because of their postseason-savy roster. And also because I’m from Boston, but anyway.

I think .. I know!! I would rather play the Yankee’s…rough year for them and the Tribe is HOT…Should be a great series. As for Dice-K…. I work in a sports bar and his name there is Dice-NO K!! And this comes from a HUGE fan based Sox bar.. But hopefully he’ll kick butt!!
