On a scale of 1 to 10?

How likely is it that the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox will EVER meet in the World Series?
They met in the 1906 World Series, but will they do it again?

10.

Neither team is leaving town or anything, so they’ll eventually meet. Could be a while…

1 – The probability of any team making it to the World Series is very low. The probability of two specific teams meeting in the World Series is slim to none.

In the American League, a team has a 1 in 14 chance of making it. In the National League it is 1 in 16. The probability of identifying the winning team from each league is 1 in 224, or a 0.45% chance.

Assuming the MLB continues indefinitely and there are no major expansions, It is impossible that they wouldn’t meet eventually. 10. This season I’d say it’s less than 1 though.

10….theres gotta be at least 1 WS with both those teams…happend with the Mets and Yankees but unfortuatnely the results weren’t good in that WS.

It’s definetely possible, depends on how many more years the two teams are in existance. Also the two New York teams played in the World Series against each other why can’t the two Chicago teams. I give it an 8.

Well, if you consider an infinite number of trials, then 10. They would eventually meet assuming every team has an equal chance to make it, which is fair considering that they’re usually competitive each season.

However, just considering this season, I’d say 1. The Cubs are beginning to crash and the White Sox have too much competition in the AL.

I would say 5 because its a toss up the cubs tend to make a big run at the end of the year but you dont know if they can hold 1st in the central and if they fall out of 1st late in the season they’re will be alot of teams fighting for the wildcard and the cubs might not be able to get either. And the Whitesox have a great team but I dont think they can compete with teams like the Angels and the Redsox in the Al championship series if they make it that far.

2, whether both teams are the best at the end of the year or not, its a long shot. The cubs arent cut out for post season play, they will most likely blow the playoffs.

3 — It’s possible it’ll happen someday.

From 1941 through 1956, th New York Yankees played the Brooklyn Dodgers in the World Series 7 times (1941, 1947, 1949, 1952, 1953, 1955, and 1956) and the Yankees played the New York Giants once (1951). In 16 years, there was an all-New York World Series eight times (or 50% of the time).
Thats the only time there were multiple same-city series.

The Yankees played the Mets once (2000), the Giants and A’s played once (1989) and the Cardinals and Browns played once (1944).

I would like to see it. Soon.
I’ll give it a seven, but that may just be wishful thinking.

i’d say a 8. theres a big chance they will…..also i think yankees will have a subway series with the mets again

The Mick "7" February 7, 2010 at 3:36 am

Based on what we’ve seen this season, I’d say it’s better than a 50/50 chance that it could happen. So I’ll give it a 6.
