Will never happen they won’t mix up American and National league teams like that.

Nicholas L February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

Wow that East Atlantic would be a GREAT division…Im a Met fan and i would love to see that, But take out the Blue Jays and put the Pirates.

insp.harrycallahan February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

Where’d you hear this crap? I think some punk is shinin’ you on, kiddo. . . .

Dan R February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

what would the rules be, NL AL? I dont think A.L teams will abandon the DH and neither will the NL teams want to convert.

Craig S February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

Not bad, but there are two items that jump out at me:

1) The teams in the Northwest would face a lot of travel. Seattle fits, but Milwaukee and Minnesota are a lot more "mid"-west than northwest. I don’t have a solution for that one.

2) Toronto and Pittsburgh should be switched. Toronto is more central than east, and the Ohio teams are closer for travel than the east coast teams.

An expansion team in Oregon? That would be nice, but I can’t imagine it at this point.

Toodeemo February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

Sure. Let’s just forget about the AL and NL.

Leave baseball to people who understand the history of baseball.

The AL West has 4 teams, the NL Central has 6, and all others have 5. It makes sense, at the least, to move one team to the AL West (from the NL) so all have 5 teams.

greatbut tey wont go for it

A more likely realignment would keep the two leagues fairly intact. Adding 2 expansion teams would make 32 teams and perfect for 2 leagues with 4 divisions with 4 teams each. This would make scheduling easier. For playoffs the format could be copied directly from the NFL.

Las Vegas is a more likely addition than Oregan, but I like Charlotte as an expansion team. Indianapolis, Oklahoma City, and Mexico City are also likely expansion cities.

American League:
West – Angels, Mariners, Las Vegas, & A’s
East – Blue Jays, Yankees, Red Sox, Orioles
Central – Twins, White Sox, Tigers, Indians
South – Rangers, Charlotte, D’Rays, Royals

National League:
West – Dodgers, Giants, Padres, Rockies
East – Mets, Nationals, Pirates, Phillies
Central – Cubs, Cardinals, Brewers, Reds
South – Astros, Braves, Marlins, D’Backs

That’s my best guess.

Do the East and West play each other during the year?

If they DO, then the World Series becomes really stupid, sort of like (no offense) the NBA Finals. It’s better if the two teams haven’t played that much.

If they DON’T, then the West Division needs another team (either added or subtracted) so that all the teams can play on a single day,

I must add, the East Atlantic Div. is stacked. How many teams would be in a playoff system? If what are perennially 3 of the top 5 total teams are all in one division, that makes for a lousy playoffs.

Overall, not bad, pretty creative too. But it won’t be adopted- too much resistance.

swingman258 February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

i have a few problems with it

1. charlotte doesnt need a baseball team, that area is predominatly braves fans and it would stay that way

2. you CANNOT put the Mets and Braves in 2 different divisions. thats a historic rivalry

3. that Northwest division is really weak, especially with an expansion team. the twins would dominate it

4. the same with the Southeast division. the braves would dominate that with no competition

5. you forgot the Baltimore Orioles, and with 2 expansion teams and 6 divisions, 32 teams doesnt divide evenly

6. that Central division is stacked with good teams. teams would be shorted from there every year

everyday someone posts these and there are always problems with them, because they dont work lol

TFoley5000 February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

It will never work what about Baltimore they got a Team in the Orioles whatever here’s Mine Realignment

Check in five Years.

red4tribe February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

The MLB has enough teams already…………

fred l February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

That is a horrible idea not much thaught put into it.
1. you can’t mix A.L. and N.L. like that
2. you have both NY’s in same both Chicago and LA’s won’t work.

RickNY February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

There should be no more expansion.

The ONLY thing that should happen is for Houston to move to the AL West. That way each division has five teams and it helps bring a bit of parity between both leagues.

Sharon S February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

You have mixed up tradition and leagues and it won’t happen. Accept things for what they are and their long tradition.

sean1201 February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

No American or National Leagues? Cubs and Cardinals are separated? I don’t think so. I’m not against a realignment, but rethink it a little.

Buddy February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

getting rid of AL and NL? that’s just crazy. why do you want to ruin a 100 year history and tradition? i don’t like it one bit.

what the? 515 February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

That would be awesome.Great idea!!!

kappy February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

So do you think that the powers to be in baseball have been or will be smoking the same wacky weed you’ve been smoking? Adding expansion team to cites that can’t support them? Breaking up rivalries that fan ’s look forward too! I would list more reasons but I honestly wouldn’t know where to start. I hope you are not planning to operate a car when you are in this condition

Roger B. February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

It would be interesting, but I don’t think the NL and the AL would ever be mixed. Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are the only teams in the same state that you have in different divisions. They need to play more often, not less.,

le m February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

that is one asome thing you made man.

lildreamer February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

leave it how it is ,MLB is to watered down as it is.

Rocky S February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

they will never pit the yankees and met in same div. then they cant meet in a world series

Catherine February 8, 2010 at 2:46 am

i like their thinking because the cubs and sox would be in the same division and the cubs could whip the pants of them more, but they will never for real do it. they can’t just mix up nl and al. what about the all star game? and the world series?

Previous post: Lots of you want MLB to contract rather than expand. So, how does this look?

Next post: Everything that Jose Canseco said in his steroid book has come to light and is mostly true. Anyone who?
